Growing out of Methodism, they especially emphasise holy living and "entire sanctification" — a work of the Holy Spirit that frees the believer to love God and neighbour wholeheartedly.
Compared with Catholics: both stress growth in holiness, but Holiness churches hold Scripture as the final authority, recognise two sacraments, and have no Pope. Compared with Reformed Protestants, they place more weight on human free response to God's grace.
