General guidance · Baptist churches · not specific to Central Heights Baptist Church
Expository Bible preaching, congregational singing, and a strong emphasis on adult baptism by immersion. Sunday School classes are common before or after the main service.
Baptist churches place a strong emphasis on community, the authority of Scripture, and believer's baptism. You'll find a warm, family-oriented atmosphere where everyone is welcome.
What Baptist churches generally believe
Baptists believe in the Trinity, Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died and rose again, and the Bible as God's Word, with Scripture as the final authority for faith and life. Salvation is by grace through personal faith in Christ. Baptism by immersion is for those old enough to profess faith (not infants), the Lord's Supper is usually seen as a memorial, and each congregation governs itself.
Compared with Catholics: both affirm the creeds' core teaching about God and Christ, but Baptists baptise only professing believers, see communion as a remembrance rather than Christ's real presence, and have no hierarchy above the local church. Compared with many other Protestants, the main difference is believer's baptism and congregational independence.
