General guidance · Assemblies of God churches · not specific to Highpoint Church
Upbeat contemporary worship, Spirit-led services, and practical Bible teaching. Strong emphasis on prayer ministry and community involvement.
Assemblies of God churches combine evangelical faith with Pentecostal enthusiasm. You'll find a passionate, welcoming community that takes both Scripture and the Holy Spirit seriously.
What Pentecostal churches generally believe
Pentecostals believe in the Trinity, Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died and rose again, and the Bible as God's Word, and in salvation by grace through faith in Christ. They emphasise the present-day work of the Holy Spirit: baptism in the Holy Spirit (often with speaking in tongues), spiritual gifts, and prayer for healing. Baptism by immersion is for professing believers, and worship is usually expressive and contemporary.
Compared with Catholics: the Catholic Charismatic Renewal shares an openness to spiritual gifts, but Pentecostals hold Scripture alone as final authority, baptise only professing believers, and see baptism and communion as ordinances rather than sacraments. Compared with other evangelicals, the main difference is the emphasis on spiritual gifts.
