How we keep church listings accurate and free

July 14, 2026 · 4 min read

NearFaith exists for one reason: to help people find a church home. Today that means 12,700+ churches across the country, in more than 1,400 cities — searchable, free, with no sign-up.

The hard part isn't listing churches. It's keeping them accurate. Service times change. A church moves its Sunday gathering an hour earlier, adds a Saturday evening service, or starts a new small group — and a family that shows up at the old time has a bad first experience. The whole point of NearFaith is to make sure that doesn't happen.

The work behind an accurate listing

Every service time on NearFaith carries a source. The best data comes straight from a church that has claimed its listing. Next best is information sourced from a church's own website. We're steadily replacing older estimates with verified details — checking the busiest listings one by one, and marking exactly how fresh each one is so you always know what you're looking at.

That verification is real work, and NearFaith is a small, independent project — not a giant company with an ad budget. Which brings us to the ask.

Two ways to back the mission

Become a member. For as little as $5/month, you help fund the verification work and keep every listing free for the families who need it. Members get the monthly impact report first, a say in which cities we launch next, and a spot on the supporter wall if they want it.

Back a city. When we open a new metro, verifying every church there takes real hours. A one-time contribution toward a specific city gets it done faster. Our first campaign is Nashville— 54 churches, and we're working through them now.

Help keep church listings free

We publish our numbers openly on the impact page, updated from real data — churches listed, records verified, cities covered. Small project, honest numbers, growing every month. Thank you for being part of it.
